PARENTAL LEAVE
Welcoming a new child makes for a special moment, but also comes with adjustments, big changes, and new dynamics. MITRE wants you to embrace the sleepless nights, the diaper changes, and the overwhelming love that comes with being a parent. Whether you’re becoming a parent through childbirth, surrogacy, fostering or adoption, MITRE is proud to offer paid Parental Leave to all types of new parents.
ELIGIBILITY
MITRE is excited for you to experience all the precious moments that come with being a parent. That’s why we offer all benefits-eligible employees time away no matter if you are:

Welcoming a newborn

Celebrating a newly adopted child

Opening your home to a new foster child

Welcoming a child through surrogacy
DURATION AND COMPENSATION
Eligible MITRE employees can take up to 12 weeks of Parental Leave per benefit year. Birth mothers begin Parental Leave following utilization of their Short-Term Disability benefit, often providing up to 12 weeks of additional paid leave.
PTOB may be used to supplement leave to 100% of pay and will continue to accrue while on any MITRE leave. You must have a positive PTOB balance to supplement your pay.
Unpaid Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is job-protected leave, and any state family leave laws, will also run concurrently for 12 weeks for FMLA-eligible employees.
For Parental Leave, use your time all at once, hourly, or spread it out over the year. It may not be your preference to use all of your leave time at once. You may wish to reserve some for down the line when you anticipate needing more time away. For these reasons, MITRE allows you to also use your leave intermittently in hourly increments.

Featured benefit: Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement. MITRE provides adoption and surrogacy-related expense reimbursement. Both provide benefits for eligible employees up to $10,000 for qualified expenses and are available through Progyny. STARTING THE LEAVE PROCESS
To file for Parental Leave, reach out to Matrix any time and any day of the week at www.matrixabsence.com or by calling 888-256-3921, as long as the absence is not requested more than 45 days prior to the start of your leave. Employees can also download the Matrix mobile app to connect with Matrix support or file a claim.
