SHORT-TERM DISABILITY

SHORT-TERM DISABILITY

Short-Term Disability Leave (STD) is an important benefit that provides additional financial stability if you are unable to work due to an extended acute illness, procedure, event, or injury lasting more than five continuous days. This leave allows you to focus on your recovery and wellbeing while providing you some financial security.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for STD, you must:

  • Be eligible for benefits at MITRE
  • Work 20 or more hours per week
  • Be unable to work due to an extended acute illness or injury lasting more than five continuous days

DURATION AND COMPENSATION

The duration of Short-Term Disability Leave varies depending on your specific circumstances and your approved medical leave duration. Typically, it covers a period of a few weeks to a few months, allowing you sufficient time to recover and return to work. At MITRE, our Short-Term Disability program covers up to 26 weeks of leave.

During this leave, you may receive a portion of your regular salary through your disability leave insurance. If approved, here’s what you can expect:

Important: PTOB may be used to supplement leave to 100% of pay and will continue to accrue while on any MITRE leave.
